Health & Safety Awareness in Childcare

Description

The purpose of this course is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to recognise and maintain good health and safety practices in the Childcare sector under a supervised environment.

Aims

• To raise health and safety awareness of employees in a childcare setting
• To cover different risks, hazards and controls associated with in a childcare setting
• To raise awareness of fire safety

Objectives
• Identify our main H&S legislation
• Understand the importance of accident and emergency response and procedures
• Identify the uses and requirements of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Promote Personal Hygiene practices
• Understand and implement hazard identification and risk assessment

Target Audience

Any employee in the childcare sector who requires general health & safety training & manual handling in childcare

• Participants should be familiar and have a good knowledge of their work environment.
• A good understanding of oral English is required.

Assessment & Certification

Participants are required to complete 20 short answer questions and a risk assessment project to achieve certification. These are completed during course time.

2 x Safetech Certificates. Moving & Handling in Childcare (Valid for 3 years) & Health & Safety Awareness in Childcare (No expiry)

Funding Available

Unemployed

If you are unemployed and seeking work, you may be eligible for funding from the Department of Social Protection to cover all, or some of the costs of your training. (means depending, you may be entitled to up to €1000).

Candidates who wish to avail of this must make an appointment with a case officer in their local Intreo office, discuss their case & apply for funding. The candidate will receive a funding application form which they must sign & bring/post to us. Upon completion, we will send this back to the case officer who will then review the funding application.

Upon receiving funding approval in the post from the Department of Social Protection, candidates must then call us to reserve a place on our course. We cannot confirm a place on our course until funding approval is gained.

Employed
