What is an NVQ?

NVQ stands for National Vocational Qualification. They are competence based and are achieved in the workplace. They exhibit your ability at work by recognising the skills, knowledge, ability, training & experience required to perform a job safely and in an effective manner.

NVQ assessments recognise your performance at work with a nationally recognised qualification. All skills are assessed through work based evidence and because of this there are no exams or tests. Certification is based purely upon evidence of your skills and knowledge.

How do I get an NVQ?

1. The initial stage is an induction with the assessor who will explain the qualification and what is expected of you in order to achieve it.
2. You will be required to gather work based evidence such as time sheets, delivery notes, job sheets etc which the assessor will review
3. The assessor will carry out a direct observation of you in the workplace, at a mutually agreed time & site
4. If the assessor is satisfied, you will be deemed competent and certification along with the application form for the blue CSCS or CPCS card will be issued
5. Certification is issued from Cskills and will include the category which you were assessed on.
