CSCS Advanced Scaffolding

Description

The Advanced Scaffolding Training programme offers comprehensive training on the safe erection and dismantling of complex scaffolding systems. This 10-day programme offers comprehensive training on essential scaffolding techniques, including truss-out and counter- lever scaffolding, designed to equip participants with the skills necessary for advanced scaffold operations.

Content

Day 1-5

  • Scaffolding Legislation and Guidelines (Code of Practice TG20-13)
  • Construction Site Safety - Scaffolding Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Manual Handling – principles of safe handling
  • Inspection of Harnesses
  • Scaffolding terminology and components
  • Inspecting of materials and various ground conditions and setting out
  • Erecting independent scaffolds, Towers and Birdcages - Techniques for assembling and disassembling advanced scaffolding systems
  • Bracing, Ties, Ladders, Ropes and Knots 
  • Housekeeping on-site
  • Reading and comprehending complex scaffold designs
  • Completing hand-over forms, checklists 1 & 2, GA3’s and completing Scaff-tags

Day 6-9

  • Theory Assessment – 1 hour in duration 
  • 3 No. Practical Assessments completed over 4 days

Day 10

  • Complete final Practical Assessment
  • Housekeeping
  • Course Review and Summary

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 months working alongside an advanced scaffolder
  • Current Safe Pass Card – must have the physical card on the programme
  • Basic Scaffolding Card for min 12 months
  • Manual Handling Certificate
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, high-visibility vest, steel-toe-capped boots, gloves
  • Scaffolders Safety Harness with Large Hook
  • Scaffolding Tool Belt: Includes magnetic level, swing-over box spanner, 7/16’s, measuring tape
  • 1 x Passport Photograph

Delivery Method

The 10-day programme consists of a mix of classroom-based instruction and practical exercises, allowing participants to apply advanced techniques in a realistic site scenarios. This comprehensive approach ensures learners are well-prepared for the complexities of high-level scaffolding systems.

Certification

On successful completion, each participant will receive a Solas CSCS Advanced Scaffolding card valid for 5 years and a QQI Level 5 Certificate.

Funding Available

Unemployed

If you are unemployed and seeking work, you may be eligible for funding from the Department of Social Protection to cover all, or some of the costs of your training. (means depending, you may be entitled to up to €1000).

Candidates who wish to avail of this must make an appointment with a case officer in their local Intreo office, discuss their case & apply for funding. The candidate will receive a funding application form which they must sign & bring/post to us. Upon completion, we will send this back to the case officer who will then review the funding application.

Upon receiving funding approval in the post from the Department of Social Protection, candidates must then call us to reserve a place on our course. We cannot confirm a place on our course until funding approval is gained.

Employed

If employed within the private sector or are a sole trader, there may also be funding assistance available through Skillnet funding. Skillnet may fund a percentage of your training, if eligible. For more details on this, please contact us on 074 91 27786.
