CSCS Location of Underground Services (LUGS)

The Course is designed to make candidates aware of the dangers involved in excavating on the public highway & private land. It will train delegates in the use of cable detection equipment and to detect and avoid most buried apparatus.

To provide the participants with the required knowledge and skills to safely locate and avoid underground services when involved with excavation works.

• Introduction to location & detection equipment - functional checks

• Practical on-site location of underground services (by each delegate)

• Practical techniques for Location various services - pipes, cables, street lighting, concrete reinforcing bars and Location tee connections

• Further practical exercise - incorporating all associated equipment

• Maintenance & storage of equipment

• Safe digging techniques

• Ten Golden rules of Location

• Questions & Answers

Requirements for this Course are as Follows: 

• In date Safe Pass Card

• PPS number

• Completed Candidate Pack

• 1 x Passport Photo (signed on back)

• PPE (high-vis vest, steel toe capped boots, gloves)

• Powerpoint presentation

• Practical demonstrations

• Theory & practical assessments

This is a 2 Day Course.

On successful completion of this two day course a CSCS card and QQI L5 Certificate will be issued. Certificates are valid for a period of five years.

Unemployed

If you are unemployed and seeking work, you may be eligible for funding from the Department of Social Protection to cover all, or some of the costs of your training. (means depending, you may be entitled to up to €1000).

Candidates who wish to avail of this must make an appointment with a case officer in their local Intreo office, discuss their case & apply for funding. The candidate will receive a funding application form which they must sign & bring/post to us. Upon completion, we will send this back to the case officer who will then review the funding application.

Upon receiving funding approval in the post from the Department of Social Protection, candidates must then call us to reserve a place on our course. We cannot confirm a place on our course until funding approval is gained.

Employed
